I'm pretty sure there's no way that Gatchaman Crowds is a direct sequel to the old series, and I like superhero stuff so I'm interested in watching it. I'm sure the old series is good, but I really do not have time to watch hundreds of episodes of a series I'm only somewhat interested in. That said, it is a revival of a Tatsunoko show, and I'd rather not have an experience like Yoru no Yatterman where there's a load of references to the old show I don't get, which interferes with my understanding of what's going on and in turn my overall enjoyment of the anime.
